Townsville is a fun tropical city, offering a range of accommodation options, bars and waterfront cafes and restaurants. From here you can jump aboard a boat for the day and head out to the reef, or spend time exploring beautiful Magnetic Island, home to Northern Australia’s largest population of wild koalas. Why not head west and explore the quirky Outback city of Charters Towers or discover a region rich in sweet sugar cane and succulent mangoes. And one of the best ways to discover this diverse region of waterfalls, gorges, islands and rainforest is to see it all along the Great Tropical Drive, a new touring route linking Townsville with the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef region.

Heading south along the Queensland coastline and you’ll discover secluded beaches within the Cape Hillsborough National Park (near Mackay) offering you the chance to see native birds and wildlife. Or why not be a castaway for a few days and get back to nature on your own secluded island. Spend a few nights on Brampton Island with over 11km of tropical walking trails to discover, or snorkel from your camping base on the Newry Islands.

A little further south and you’ll discover Central Queensland with its combination of coastal cities, islands, rainforests and gemfields. For one of the best steaks ever, pop into Queensland’s ‘beef capital’ Rockhampton, and enjoy a mouth-watering meal with friendly locals. Or why not explore the Southern Great Barrier Reef islands and the beautiful coastal holiday township of Yepoon. A littler further south and you’ll discover Bundaberg, home to Australia’s famous rum (Bundaberg Rum) and the largest turtle rookery in Southern Hemisphere.

With so much to see and discover, Queensland’s diverse array of experiences and regions are sure to provide an unforgettable holiday experience for any style, taste or interest.
